Peter Diamandis, pointing to where the field of longevity is headed

Who we're talking about: Peter Diamandis, an entrepreneur, Harvard Medical School-trained physician, and MIT-trained aerospace engineer.

Diamandis is best known as the founder of the XPRIZE Foundation, which offers large prizes to inventors who can achieve goals beneficial to humanity. For example, the first XPRIZE was awarded in 2004 for space exploration. More recently, Diamandis and Elon Musk announced a $100M XPRIZE for scalable carbon renewal.

Diamandis is also very interested and involved in the field of longevity. He has started Singularity University, and has launched several biotech companies. Last year, he wrote a book with personal development coach Tony Robbins, Life Force, about medical breakthroughs that are extending lifespan and youthspan.

Why you might care: Diamandis is clearly very smart, and has a rolodex that includes people such as the world’s second richest man, Elon Musk, director James Cameron, and physicist Stephen Hawking. The fact that somebody of Diamandis’s talents and connections is so bullish on longevity shows where this field is headed — and that’s up.

And the news is: Diamandis is organizing a "5-star Platinum Longevity Trip" later this year. It’s certainly not cheap, but if you can afford it, you can have the top longevity researchers, entrepreneurs, and influencers speaking just to you and to 39 other high-flyers. You can find out more about the trip here.
