Marc Bernegger, longevity investor and conference organizer

He's just brought together some of the biggest names in the field

Marc Bernegger, looking forward to his lunch in Davos, Switzerland

Who we're talking about: Marc Bernegger, a Swiss entrepreneur and investor. Bernegger got his start by founding several web companies and then investing in financial technology. Today, he has ventured into the longevity field by launching Maximon, a longevity company builder, and co-founding the Longevity Investors Conference (LIC).

And the news is: Bernegger's conference just wrapped up its fourth annual event in Gstaad, Switzerland. The event ran for two days and featured 150 total participants, among them 80 longevity investors, a host of longevity company founders, and some of the biggest names in the longevity field, including David Sinclair, Brian Kennedy, Nir Barzilai, Aubrey de Grey, and Bryan Johnson.

Why this is a big deal: As the organizers of another longevity conference, Longevity Summit Dublin, wrote recently:

“Most experts in the field now acknowledge that [a 5-year “healthspan” extension] is a likely outcome in the near future and one focus of longevity medicine is now on achieving it.  But far more is possible.”

- Aubrey De Gray and Brian Kennedy, Dublin Longevity Declaration

In order for that “far more” to happen, the field of longevity needs money, and lots of it, sooner rather than later. That’s where investors like the ones at Bernegger’s conference come in.

Let’s hope that, with Bernegger's connections and a bit of luck, some of these LIC investors will soon fund a breakthrough longevity company — making them very rich in the process, and the rest of us very healthy, for a very long time.

What's next? While the 2023 LIC event is over, the next one is already being planned for autumn 2024. Meanwhile, Bernegger will hold a Longevity Investors Lunch during the World Economic Forum on January 16, 2024, in Davos, Switzerland. If you would like to be notified of that or of future LIC events, you can sign up for the Longevity Investors Conference newsletter here.
